Ms. Heather Wolzen

I have been teaching for many years, here in 51³Ô¹Ï and abroad in Mexico City and Ecuador. I am bilingual (English/Spanish) and love to travel and explore! My family and I have lived in Dehesa Valley (between El Cajon and Alpine) for 30 years: my husband is in construction, and my daughters graduated from UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara.

I whole-heartedly believe that children need to feel safe and loved before they are willing to take risks in a classroom. From the very beginning of the year, we lay the foundation for creating a caring environment where students know it’s okay to ask questions and make mistakes. We learn, have fun, dance, explore, and deepen our understanding of the world around us.

I want my students to be able to adapt their skills to unique situations, to be flexible in their thinking and thoughtful in the ways they implement their ideas. When they apply their problem-solving skills with concern for the well-being and dignity of others, they take part in an ongoing cycle of sharing knowledge and building a community of which they may be proud.
